KSI. He is one of the earlier influencers who I believe came to fame by quite literally talking over other people play the football game FIFA. Now his occupations seem never ending. Youtuber/Streamer/Rapper/Boxer/Actor/Entrepreneur. Take your pick. Whatever you think of him, he’s diversified.
This was one of my first shoots for the BBC. I was still unsure of how the process went and what to expect from Celebrities and PR’s respectively. So I made my move quickly and decisively before anyone could take him away from me. After his interview I stopped him in the green room and asked for a portrait there and then. To my surprise he agreed on the spot, which took me a little off guard.
Thankfully at this time, there was some work being done to this floor which required some new maps be made. Just outside the greenroom was a large 5ft LED panel just waiting for the new map to be installed any day. That day it became my soft box. If you zoom in on his eyes, there I am. Clearly.
I forget exactly what, but something bad had happened recently and a producer sent me an email just before I walked in to him and asked me to get a picture of him looking “sad”. I’d never usually ask a celeb for this but I was trying to make a good impression.What he gave me was the image that they used. Eyes and lips scrunched shut with his hands behind his head. I’ll admit, its a much more dynamic image than I would have got otherwise. Sometimes producers have good ideas. Sometimes.
