lauren
I had a great time with Lauren. She’s one of those people who make you feel like you’re not doing enough in life because she seems to do so much. When I met her she was running breath work and ice bath classes as well as having been a Nike trainer on the side. She also has a very cute dog which she brought with her to the lobby of a building in Williamsburg. We were there to get some fitness content but also to document one of her famous ice bath sessions, the “Ice Cold Club” for those in the know.
I wanted to really show movement with this set so when doing the gym content I left the shutter long with some flash. I even went fully crazy and did a few of those zooms on a long exposure that cause star wars like lines in the background of the image. We wanted it to feel very intimate and close up to her, rather than anything with too much planning or perfect lighting. She did an amazing job of instantly getting into “character” of a tired but hard working person. No one can fake an out of breath sound better than her. The Ice bath section I knew capturing the moment of entry was key as thats the part most people would be scared of, but also the reactions on her face. One take for this one because it was most defiantly not summer in NYC so the weather out while not freezing, wasn’t made for ice bathing.
A really fun day getting to hang out with a very positive and well motivated person. Must be all the ice.
